Children’s Central Intake Unit is the gateway into our programs
serving children between the ages of 3-17. The intake process begins
with referrals via telephone or face-to-face contact and is accomplished
by a comprehensive initial evaluation. Consumers and families are
then referred to an appropriate service within the agency or to
an outside agency. Intake referrals come primarily from parents,
School District of Philadelphia, Department of Human Services (DHS),
Community Behavioral Health (CBH), and other social service organizations.
Those considered appropriate for intake may have a broad range of
functional, developmental, behavioral, and emotional challenges.

The Adult Centralized Intake Unit (ACIU) is the entry point into
adult services. The gateway into CC’s adult Mental Health
and Drug and Alcohol programs begins with an initial evaluation
provided by Masters’ level clinicians and licensed psychiatrists.
ACIU provides quality comprehensive evaluations for adults experiencing
mental health and/or substance abuse symptoms that present to CC
for the first time or are returning to resume care. Approximately
80 evaluations are completed monthly and referrals are received
from hospitals, Crisis Response Centers, other agencies, family
members, friends and prospective clients. After evaluations are
completed, ACIU refers clients to treatment services designed to
meet their behavioral health care needs.
