The Children's Central Intake Unit is the gateway into our programs serving children between the ages of 3-17. The intake process begins with referrals via telephone or face-to-face contact and is accomplished by a comprehensive initial evaluation. Consumers and families are then referred to an appropriate service within the agency or to an outside agency.

ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM

The AEP program is an Alternative Academic School placement for children referred by the School District of Philadelphia's Office of Specialized Services. Children referred to the program often exhibit educational and/or behavioral needs. AEP provides educational programs for children with behavioral problems and developmental disabilities.

AEP assists the School District of Philadelphia in providing therapeutic interventions at school without interfering with a student’s educational instruction experience. AEP is designed to increase the social, emotional, and academic success of students. Each classroom is staffed with a special education teacher and one associate counselor. The program is supported by two Climate Managers, an IEP Coordinator, Case Manager, Vocational Liaison, and a Program Director.
